The Sunday School and the Learning Ministries Committee sponsors several programs throughout the year to celebrate special seasons and events in the church year.

ADVENT Workshop

Our annual Advent Workshop will be held on Friday, December 3. We meet in the fellowship room at 5:30 p.m. for a covered dish dinner, followed by craft projects and a decorating of the Church project. The evening is open to all ages of congregational members and the community. The event is followed by Senior High sleepover and meeting.

Our annual Sunday School Christmas Program will be held on Sunday, December 5 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sactuary. Everyoe is invited to be a part of the celebration as the students express the joy of Christmas and the grand celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. On Sunday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. we will meet in the fellowship room for "Jesus Birthday Party". Everyone is invited to share in the celebration of Jesus' birth and hope that he brings to all of us.

We begin to prepare for the Lenten Season with the Learning Ministries Lenten Service Project.  Each year the Sunday School students and the congregations participate in a loose change offering to benefit "Our Church's Wider Mission: One Great Hour of Sharing".  The Project begins on the first Sunday of Lent and continues through Easter Morning.

The Sunday School sponsors their annual Egg Hunt on the Saturday before Palm Sunday, April 16, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Children are asked to meet in their classrooms and wait to be called for their turn to "hunt" for their eggs.  Coffee, hot chocolate and cupcakes are served in the grove and everyone is invited to stay and chat after the Egg Hunt.  The event is open to all children from toddlers through Sixth Grade. Friends and neighbors are welcome to join us.

The Picnic is an annual fund raising event sponsored by the Sunday School held on the second Saturday in June starting at 5:00 p.m. The picnic offers live music, hot food, cold soda, a candy stand and children's games. In 2010 the picnic will be held on June 12. Funds raised are used to support the programs of Ziegels Union Sunday School. If you would like to help with the picnic please contact Bill Hausman.
